Tintwistle Cricket Club - The Chairmans All Time XI
Some time ago I was asked which players would be included in my TCC Best XI.
The team consists of players who I played with
during my playing career at TCC and therefore many talented players of the pre 1960's
are obviously excluded. It was a pleasure and a privilege to play with all of the
players with whom I enjoyed many successes. To everybody who, like me, didn't make
the team my commiserations.
I am of course interested in other peoples Best XI's so please send us your team,
via the link on the left.
N. R. Barber (Chairman)
1:
Mike Wild
-
Attacking opening bat, sure to get the innings off to a positive start. Noted big game player.
2:
Bill Thornhill
-
Dependable opening bat who would anchor the innings. Natural Captain, superb tactitian.
3:
Martin Harris
-
The Club's leading run scorer who can build on any positive start. Will never be short of some chat for the opposition.
4:
William Senior
-
Simply, the best all round player to have played cricket at Tintwistle.
5:
Damian Weatherhead
-
Talented batter with tight defence and all round stroke making ability. The best is yet to come.
6:
Denis Wild
-
Hard hitting left hand batsman who would break up the rhythm of the opposition. Would bowl slow right arm off breaks.
7:
Bob Johnson
-
Top drawer glove man who would help the bowlers and keep the team on its toes. Big hitting batsman.
8:
Len Walker
-
Seam bowler who would add quality and consistency to the bowling attack. Quality middle order batter who wouldn't be happy batting here - sorry Len!
9:
Norman Harris
-
Very talented left arm slow bowler who bowled with consistency and nip. Determined batter who would close the innings.
10:
Andrew (AJ) Harris
-
The only player of the modern era to progress from TCC to County Cricket - Simply The Best! Will take the new ball.
11:
Mike Bridge
-
99 League Wickets in a season means he must share the new ball. A creative number 11 who took great pride in his batting ability.
